Let us make sure that none of God’s children ever feels alone
Each year, the annual Peter’s Pence Collection, in support of the works of the Holy Father, is held in parishes throughout the world. The proceeds from this Collection fund emergency relief assistance to those who suffer from war, oppression, disease, and natural disasters. Through works of charity, Catholics provide a powerful witness of love and deeds to empower the weak, the defenseless, and the voiceless, and to sustain those who suffer.
The theme for this year’s Collection is Let us make sure that none of God’s children ever feels alone. The theme is based on a September 2006 homily given by Pope Benedict XVI, in which he explained how those who are baptized create one family of believers who are never alone.

Contributions to the Peter’s Pence Collection involve the more than one billion Catholics worldwide in supporting the Holy Father’s mission, an active expression of Christ’s love for the poor and have totaled more than $175 million in contributions by dioceses of the United States, who generously provide nearly half of all gifts.

How You Can Help

Pray— Please pray for the Holy Father, asking God’s blessing on his mission of justice
            and peace for all.

Give—Please consider increasing your offering to help build a better world for those most in need.

Pastor’s Corner - June 10

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

I would like to update you on what our parish has been doing to safeguard our children and youth of our Church and school. First, our Safeguard the Children Committee has been meeting regularly to discuss the upcoming Archdiocesan Audit, as well as the implementation of all Archdiocesan policies concerning the safety of our children. The policies/programs that we implemented include:

Fingerprinting and background checks for all adults who work with minors.
The adult “Virtus” protecting all God’s training sessions.
The Virtus “Touching Teaching Safety” and “Good Touch/Bad Touch” program.
Bulletin announcements on awareness issues.
Promise to Protect, Pledge to Heal handouts placed in the Church.

We will continue to work with the all the leaders of the Church/School to find ways to create a safe environment for our children.

I would also like to thank you for donations made through the green envelope for the Building Fund, which has enabled the church to receive vital and necessary improvements such as the church fumigation, installation of a new sound system and security cameras for the church and school grounds. The heating system in the church is no longer operational and according to the survey results of last year, there is an overwhelming majority that would like to see a non-hazardous and more energy efficient heating/AC system installed in the church. Additionally, the repaving of the north parking lot is a priority. Your generous contributions to the building fund will continue to help  maintain and improve our parish grounds and buildings.

As we celebrate the Feast of the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ this weekend, we are reminded that our strength, wisdom, and source of spiritual life are derived from Christ’s salvific act on the Cross, as well as from the Holy Eucharist.

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Antonio, Pastor
