Pastor’s Corner: Feburary 3rd

Wednesday January 30th 2008

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

Lent is arriving earlier this year and we should take a moment to reflect and grow spiritually in our relationship with God and one another. The Soup Kitchen will take place on Fridays, beginning February 8th, in the hall at 6:00pm with the Stations of the Cross following at 7:00pm. As a reminder, the Speaker Series continues on Sunday, February 10th at 7:00pm with Fr. Thomas Rausch, a professor at Loyola Marymount University. I highly encourage you to attend this talk about what it means to be a Catholic today.

I would also like to thank you for your generosity and support for the Together in Mission fund. Presently, the total pledges equal $24,564.00 which is $ $16,167.00 short of our $40,731.00 goal. Please help us to reach our goal. Your benevolence will be greatly appreciated by the parishes in need.

This year, the Finance Council and I discussed implementing an automated offertory program as another option for parishioners to make their donations. To aid in our analysis, we would like your input. Please fill out a survey by clicking here. I thank you in advance for your input.

God Bless,
Fr. Antonio, Pastor

Dear Parishioners:

The Gospel says that welcome was characteristic of Jesus’ manner of relating to others, “he welcomes the crowds, teaches them about the Kingdom of God and heals those who are sick (Luke9:11). Bishop Oscar Solis mentioned in his recent talk on Cultural Integration that, “Christ is made present in welcome, assuring his disciples, ‘he who welcomes you welcomes me and the one who sent me’ (Mt 10:40).”

The Ministry of Hospitality involves being the presence and face of Christ to all people who enter our Church. This is a wonderful and important ministry in which we invite you to be a part of. Your participation is vital to the enhancement of our church so please contact Robert Martinez, our Parish Ministry Coordinator, at the office, for more information.

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Antonio
