After much analysis, the pastor and leaders of our Church, specifically the members of the Finance council, have decided to move forward with a Capital Campaign to continue to fund much need repairs and upgrades to our parish and school. The Car Raffle is the first effort of this Campaign to raise funds for necessary items of repair. The priority items are:
- Installation of a new cooling and heating system
- Repaving of the North parking lot
- Remodeling of the Kindergarten and the enhancement of its curriculum.
To be crystal clear between the distinction of a Capital Campaign and the money raised from general collections and existing fundraisers is that the Capital Campaign generates funds to pay for large repairs or expenditures. The general collections and fundraisers such as the upcoming Autumn Eve Dinner, Dance and Auction are necessary to raise funds to “keep the lights on” and are vital to the day-to-day operations of the church. One is not more important than the other. The goals of both campaigns need to be achieved.
The main question that arose when we were developing this Capital Campaign is: How can we raise money and not place the financial burden on our parishioners? The solution is to “Help us Sell” only 1000 tickets for our car raffle. In exchange for helping us sell the ticket, we will give 5% of the gross proceeds, up to $5000, to the person or group who sells the winning ticket.
The winner of the raffle will win a choice of three brand new 2007 Pontiacs, or 20K in Cash. Additionally there will be ten cash prizes awarded.
The good news is that only 1000 tickets will be sold, thereby making the odds of winning better than one in a hundred. Also, please consider the following:
- If every parishioner family would agree to buy or sell just 1 Ticket we would double our goal and be able to give away 2 cars.
- If only half of our parishioner families would agree to buy or sell 1Ticket- we would meet our goal.
- When you go home, if you dedicate 1 hour of your time reaching out to 20 friends or family members for help in this endeavor, you will sell 1 ticket! Imagine that, this campaign would be over in one day!
Again, what’s most important is that the proceeds from this Raffle will go into our own “Capital Funds” account, and used towards the enhancement and revitalization of our Church and School.
A PDF of the Car Raffle Ticket order form can be accessed from this page or can be picked up from any of the entrances of the church. Once the form is filled out and submitted to the office with payment (either by check or credi card), you can pick up our raffle ticket or have it mailed to you. To make it a little easier, we are accepting credit cards this year. Don’t forget to put your name in the “sold by” line on all car raffle ticket orders that you sell.
