Msgr. Paul’s first assignment was at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in East Los Angeles. He was next assigned to Our Lady of the Valley Church in Canoga Park until 1979 when he was assigned to St. Luke Church in Temple City where he served until 1983. Msgr. was assigned to St. John Chrysostom Church as Administrator and finally named Pastor. He remained in St. John’s parish for 16 years. For the past 10 years he has served as the pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Santa Clarita.

Msgr. Paul was elected as Dean of Deanery 16 for ten years. He served on the Board of Directors of St. John’s Seminary College and Theology for six years, as Chairman of Development for the Archdiocesan Committee on Trusts and Estates, and as Chairman of the Holy Name Union for the Archdiocese for 18 years. Monsignor was also a member of the Police Chaplain Corp of Inglewood for seven years.

Msgr. Paul has been a member of the Board of Trustees of Catholic Charities since 1989. Currently, he is Vice President of the Board of Trustees and serves on the Executive Committee and the Resource Development Committee.

Msgr. Paul was name and elevated to Prelate of Honor to His Holiness on June 6, 1995.

The Canon Law of the Church requires every bishop on his seventy-fifth birthday to submit his letter of resignation to the Holy Father. In this past month of February 2010 our Archbishop, Cardinal Roger Mahony, reached his seventy-fourth birthday. The process for the selection of the next Archbishop of Los Angeles has already begun. The Cardinal and the Council of Priests have requested that all parishes and parishioners of the Archdiocese join with them in prayer for the selection of the Cardinal’s successor. The following prayer has been approved for recitation in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

Lord, God,
You are our eternal shepherd and guide.

In your mercy, grant to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles a shepherd who will walk in your ways and whose watchful care will bring us your blessing.

In your love for us, give us the joy of receiving a shepherd who will be an example of goodness to your people and who will fill our hearts and minds with the truth of the gospel.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

How many times have we wished, “If only I was in Jesus’ presence so that I can talk to him” and don’t realize that we do. As Catholics we have a gift that no one else has. . . Jesus Christ present in the Holy Eucharist. Here at Christ the King, we have the opportunity to adore, meditate, pray, and to be one with Christ during the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every First Friday of the month from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and every Tuesday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

I encourage you, especially during this Lenten Season, to take this gift being offered to all of us and to show our love for the Lord by being with him during the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

During the exposition, the Holy Eucharist should not be left by himself and to ensure that He is not left alone, we have started a sign-up sheet for the First Friday of the month from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. which is located in the front entrance of the Church. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Parish Office.

Yours in Christ, Fr. Antonio Cacciapuoti

I would like to once again, personally thank all of you for your generous donation, last weekend, to help our parish. Through your generosity, I am pleased to report that we were able to raise $3,191.00 during our second collection. This collection will help offset the expenses incurred in upgrading our church, rectory and parish office telephone system, including rewiring, the re-keying of our entire church facility, the stairway repair to the 2nd floor apartment over the garage, the parish office internet system and the new chimes for the church. We are also anticipating additional expenses for the repairs of the security camera system throughout the church/school facilities, replacement of the carpet in the church, the trimming of the three pine trees on the north side, the cleaning of church guttering and to repair the tiles in the vestibules.
We are sincerely grateful for your stewardship in helping to care for our parish.

Yours in Christ,
Fr. Antonio Cacciapuoti, Pastor

Dear Parishioners:

God loves us so much that he gave his only son to save and redeem us. Let this be a time to look for and open our hearts to the blessings sent from God. As God’s children prepare for the celebration of Christmas, let us rejoice that we too have the heart of a child, accepting gratefully the blessings that Jesus sends our way. May we always be willing to say yes to those blessings and allow God to work in our lives.

As we celebrate this Christmas season, may your eyes and hearts be open to Christ, the true light of the world. May you let your light shine by sharing His love and light with all you meet.

Please consider our belief that life begins at conception and ends in natural death. LAPS is an organization working on the front lines to respect life; however, they need our support and help all year round – not just during Respect Life Month. They will continue to need all our prayers and support to raise the money needed to buy an ultrasound machine. Remember them during this month and every month.

There are many volunteer opportunities at LAPS: in their centers, there are openings for a Peer Counselor, Parenting Class Coordinator, Administrative Assistant, Sonogram Operator, and Abortion Recovery Counselor. In their Administrative Offices, there are openings for: General Volunteer, Special Projects, and Church Liaison.

You can join as a LAPS prayer partner and receive their newsletter by emailing info@lapsforlife.org. Thank you for your continued support of the Lord’s work by supporting organizations, like LAPS.

“You are called to stand up for life! To respect and defend the mystery of life always and everywhere, including the lives of unborn babies, giving real help and encouragement to mothers in difficult situations. You are called to work and pray against abortion.”
