Congratulations Skip, Caitlin and Bill!!!

Pro Ecclesia Et Pontifice Awarded to Richard Byrne (Skip)

This honor (“For the Church and the Holy Father”) recognizes the commitment of men and women and their service to the ecclesial community.

Richard Byrne (Skip) has been a Christ the King parishioner since August 1967 (43½ years).  Skip was responsible for establishing the lector program at Christ the King at request of pastor, Msgr. Henry Alker, in 1967.  He has served as a lector continuously since then.  He was a member and chair of Parish Advisory Council at various times under Msgr. Alker and Msgr. George, as well as a member and chair of the Pastoral Council and Finance Council at various times under Msgr. Antonio.  Currently, Skip is a member of the Finance Council.  Skip was involved with the sexual abuse issue in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles since 1993, first as a member of the Sexual Abuse Advisory Board from 1993 until 2002 and then as chairman and vice-chairman of the Clergy Misconduct Oversight Board from 2002 until the present.  He is married to Marguerite (Chickie) Byrne for 52 years and has been blessed with six adult, married children, and 18 grandchildren.

Benerementi Awarded to Bill Ahmanson and Caitlin Morais

This papal honor (for “serving with distinction”) is given to those who have shown exemplary service to their church, family and community.

William H. Ahmanson (Bill) was born and raised in Los Angeles, attended Harvard-Westlake School and Occidental College where he studied Political Science, Theater Arts and sculpture.   Bill has been part of the Christ the King Parish since his youth when he attended mass and was an alter server.  He has served on and chaired the Finance Council and Parish Council.  Currently Bill is a Eucharist Minister, Lector occasional usher and continues to serve on the Finance Council.  Outside of Christ the King, Bill serves on the Finance Council for the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angles and is Chairman of the 2011 Cardinal’s Award Dinner.  In addition to serving this parish and the Archdiocese Bill serves on a variety of non-profit boards holding a range of leadership positions.

Caitlin Morais is married to Marco and has a 19 month old daughter named Sophia.  She is a cartographer by profession and is the owner of a consulting firm that specializes in mapping support for local government agencies.   She first became a parishioner at Christ the King in 2002 and has since volunteered her time in many areas including coordinating the liturgical ministries, serving as a sacristan, usher, and lector, technical development of the parish web site and email newsletter list, coordinator of the offertory program, development of the parish master plan and 2008 parish formation speaker series.  In addition she is a past member of the parish council and currently serves as a member of the finance council.  She has also served on the Our Lady of the Angel’s Regional Pastoral Council and is currently an appointee to the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council.
