Confirmation
and it filled the entire house where they were sitting.
Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them,
and a tongue rested on each of them.
All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit.”—Acts of the Apostles 2:2-4a
PREPARATION FOR THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION
In order to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation two years or religious education are required, which includes classes, service to our community, retreats, and participation in Archdiocesan events (ex: Youth Day). However, Confirmation is a lifelong Sacrament that must continue after the Sacrament is received as we witness Christ to others.
At what age do Confirmation classes usually begin?
In our diocese of Los Angeles, one can begin Confirmation classes in 9th grade. Here at Christ the King, we have two courses available. One for 9th – 12th graders (high school) and one for adults (RCIA).
How long are the courses for Confirmation?
The High School course for confirmation is usually two years from September to May. However, if the student does not feel he/she is ready to confirm their faith in God, it is possible for the course to be extended.
When is Confirmation usually celebrated in the parish?
Confirmation is celebrated during the Easter season. Exact dates and times are dependent upon when the regional Bishop can visit the parish.
