Pastoral Council
The Christ the King Parish Pastoral Council is an organization which functions under the authority and leadership of the pastor.
It acts as a consultative body to the pastor, making recommendations regarding pastoral needs of parishioners and offering solutions to issues and concerns that may arise.
It serves as a planning body by setting goals for the parish to achieve its mission, coordinating the parish planning process, and developing a parish plan and it monitors the implementation of the parish plan on a regular basis.
It acts as a coordinating body for the parish by promoting goal setting, communication and interaction between the pastor, the staff, and all parish ministries, organizations and groups. It also works to bring the people of the parish together with other parishes, the LA Archdiocese, and the community at large.
Membership & Meetings:
The membership of the Pastoral Council consists of the pastor and twelve to fifteen parishioners who are appointed by the pastor and who reflect the diversity of the parish community. The term for a Council member is three years, with one-third of the members being replaced each year to insure continuity. It meets at least six times a year, between September and June. The goal of the Council is to reach consensus on all issues brought before it.
