Year for Priests

YEAR FOR PRIESTS

Have you heard the calling to a religious vocation? Wondering if you have a calling? Have many questions and do not know where to begin or who to turn to?

During a March 16th plenary assembly with members of the Congregation for the Clergy, our Holy Father declared this is the year of the Priest and “The centrality of Christ leads to a correct valuation of priestly ministry, without which there would be no Eucharist, no mission, not even the Church.” While this may sound alarming, with current trends and statistics, it is concerning and a real possibility for some in certain areas due to the lack of men entering the Priesthood.

As we all share in being one body and walking with Christ, it is our responsibility to nurture and direct those wishing to enter into a religious life for the sake of saving souls into sanctifying grace.

Christ the King, together with all of the parishes in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, will be embarking on a full-fledged Vocational Committee Plan as required by the Archdiocese.  Details, updates, and progress of the Committee will be published and announced after Mass on a regular basis.  Ian Hagan, a volunteer at our parish, has been appointed, by Fr. Antonio, as the Director of the parish’s Vocation Committee.  As you may know, Ian is also going through the discernment process and is involved with the Archdiocese vocational group that meets on a monthly basis.

If you have any questions regarding vocation, please make an appointment to speak with Fr. Antonio Cacciapuoti or Msgr. Charles Chaffman.  You can also contact:

Ian Hagan, Parish Vocation Committee Chair: (hagan.ian@gmail.com or 323-632-3526)

Please keep all Priests’ and those considering a Religious life in your prayers.
